Relying on our years of experience and the current implementation in 140 European reference hospitals, the UMC Utrecht has chosen the total cato^® solution for chemotherapy in March 2011 (prescribing, preparation, and administration).

This means that the whole workflow starting with the prescription process done by physicians and the approval of the pharmacists is carried out using cato^®. After gravimetric preparation and documentation to the smallest detail which both are fully supported by cato^® as well, the medication can be administered and recorded. Patient data and lab results are synchronized through interfaces with the existing HIS. This process has already been implemented for the chemotherapy treatment of adults. In September, the sections for pediatric oncology (Wilhelmina Children's Hospital) will follow too. In addition, the introduction of bedside barcoding is planned as well.
